A FALLEN ANGEL DISGUISED AS AN ANGEL OF LIGHT

On page 79 of his biography, it is written: that khadija led Muhammad to Waraqa ibn Nawfal, a cousin of hers. He was a man who had embraced Christianity during the pre-Islamic time. He is familiar with the Hebrew language, and has translated much of the gospel into Hebrew. At that time, he was old and blind. Waraqa asked Muhammad: dear nephew, what do you see? and Muhammad reported his case to him. But it is the angel Gabriel, the same that God had sent down to Moses. Know therefore that it was Waraqa ibn Nawfal who convinced Muhammad that what he saw was the angel, Gabriel. It was from that day that Muhammad also called the scary being he saw, Gabriel. There is an anecdote concerning the beginning of the appearance of this strange being that we find in the biography, which proves that despite Waraqa’s intervention, Muhammad is convinced that what he saw was a demon. On page 82, we read: khadija reports: I then said to the messenger of Allah, “cousin can you let me know when this friend arrives, when he visits you?” “Yes, I can,” he said. “Tell me as soon as he arrives”. The angel Gabriel visited the messenger of Allah as usual and Muhammad immediately shouted: “khadija this is Gibril”. “Cousin” she said “sits on my left thigh”. He stood up and sat down on her thigh. “Cousin, do you still see him?” “Yes, I see him”. “Then put yourself on my right thigh”. Muhammad puts himself on Khadija’s thigh again. “Cousin, do you still see him?” “Yes, I see him”. Come and put yourself in my bosom. The text says Muhammad curled up in the bosom of khadija. “Do you see him?” “Yes, I see him”. Khadija finally dropped her head cover, got rid of her robe and put Muhammad’s head still in his bosom beneath her underwear. “Do you still see him?” she asked. “No, I don’t see him anymore”. So khadija said to Muhammad: “cousin be happy and hold on. Your friend is an angel from heaven and not a demon. These are the exercises his first wife did with him until she made him change his mind that he was not a demon but an angel from heaven. If not, from the start, he always thought he was dealing with a demon. Waraqa ibn Nawfal and Khadidja were therefore the ones who convinced Muhammad that he was a prophet. This Waraqa was into paganism and converted to Christianity before Islam. Unlike John, Waraqa did not witness Muhammad’s experience in the cave of hira. But it was he who attested that what Muhammad saw was the angel, Gabriel. Waraqa also made it his mission to lend a strong hand to Muhammad against those who will oppose his message. But he could not do so because he soon died. What is surprising is that after his death, Muhammad also stopped receiving his revelations for about three years. Moreover, Waraqa who claims to recognize Muhammad as a prophet did not convert to Islam until his death. He also didn’t recommend anyone to follow him.
